Variety is The Spice of Life

Hop the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard for a fabulous day trip. Jump on one of our rental bikes and ride the dedicated bike path past the beach looking over Vineyard Sound, into quaint Main Street, Falmouth and beyond. Charter a boat and fish some of the best waters in New England. Explore the deserted coves and beaches of the pristine Elizabeth Islands, a short boat ride away. Wander down to the harbor and watch the sail boats and marine research vessels come in under a real working drawbridge. Visit the (free!) aquarium or check out the submarine that first explored the Titanic. In summer, walk to several beaches for Gulf Stream swimming that rivals the Caribbean.

Oceanic Research Hub

Woods Hole is the epicenter of marine and biological science in the US. With more than five major science institutions headquartered here (WHOI, MBL, NOAA, SEA and Woods Hole Research Center), it’s more than the rushing tides in our harbor that makes this one of the best melting pots of scientific creativity in the world. The Woods Hole Inn is right in the middle of the action, in close walking distance to all the labs and across the street from the main WHOI and SEA docks.

Birders delight in sightings of egrets, Great Blue Heron and the enormous osprey that likely gave “Buzzards Bay” it’s name.
