Woods Hole, Massachusetts is 80 miles south of Boston’s Logan International Airport with non-stop flights landing daily from all over the world. Providence’s TF Green Airport is 70 miles to the West. Buses run regularly from both airports to Woods Hole, or we can assist you in hiring a car service.

If you’re driving here, and you’re worried about the traffic, there’s good news: you have little to fear from a trip to Woods Hole. We are the lucky few who live on the “Upper Cape,” accessed by our own bridge and highway, which plies the less crowded Western edge of the peninsula. You might wait a spell at the Bourne Bridge at rush hour on a weekend, but other than that, it should be smooth sailing.

From Boston

Take Route 93 South, follow signs and exit on the right toward Route 95 South, follow signs and exit on the left to Route 24 South, follow signs and exit on the right to Route 495 South, which becomes Route 25, and continue until you cross the Bourne Bridge onto Cape Cod. There you round the rotary and continue straight onto Route 28 South until the highway ends, and you continue straight onto Route 28A. This road bends slightly right as it becomes Locust Street and then Woods Hole Road, which takes you all the way into the village. After Little Harbor appears on your left (note the Coast Guard vessels), stay right at the sign that guides ferry passengers to the left toward “Martha’s Vineyard”. You will pass the Post Office, then see the Woods Hole Inn on your left. Take your first left onto Luscombe Avenue, and the left after that into our parking lot. You’re home!

From Providence

In Providence, follow signs on route 95 to join route 195 East, follow signs and exit right onto Route 25, and continue until you cross the Bourne Bridge onto Cape Cod. There you round the rotary and continue straight onto Route 28 South until the highway ends, and you continue straight onto Route 28A.

From New York

Hop on the Merritt Parkway or 95 North headed towards New Haven. Remain on 95 North through Providence, then bear left onto 195 North towards New Bedford. About half hour on this highway, then head East on MA-25 towards the Bourne Bridge.

Once over the Bourne Bridge, transition to Rt 28 South towards Falmouth and Woods Hole. You are now about 20 minutes from the Woods Hole Inn. You will pass through two rotaries and then the road narrows from a two lane divided highway into a street called Palmer Ave which takes you through the middle of Falmouth. If you seek a more country road vibe, take the Sippewissett Road exit and continue west towards Woods Hole. If you stay on Palmer, bear right onto Locust Street at the Y intersection (past Intergas Gas Station) following signs to Woods Hole. Locust Street turns into Woods Hole Road and your destination is about four miles down the peninsula. You will know you are getting close when you can see the water. Bear right onto Water Street, then take your first left onto Luscombe Avenue to find our parking lot across the street from the iconic (and well marked) Landfall Restaurant. Expect the journey to take 4 1/2 hours without traffic.

From Los Angeles

Many Californians seek the relative cool air of our summer season, and if you are feeling brave consider driving. You won’t need your car once here, as most of what guests enjoy in Woods Hole is within easy walking distance — world class beaches a short walk, plus twelve waterfront restaurants and the ferry terminal to Martha’s Vineyard right across the street.

Take I-10 E towards San Bernardino, to I-15 East towards Barstow/Vegas then transition to I-40 E through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma (1200 miles). In Oklahoma City, head north a few miles on I-35 to connect with I-44 East towards St Louis, where you will change to I-70 East towards New York. Head towards Harrisburg on I-76 which becomes I-81 East. Near Bridgewater NJ, head north on I-287 which takes you over the Tappen Zee Bridge hopefully missing NYC metropolitan traffic. In Port Chester CT, take I-95 North towards New Haven and Providence. In Providence RI, bear left onto 195 N which takes you along the southwestern MA coastline to MA-25 towards the Bourne Bridge. Once over the bridge, you are twenty minutes from Woods Hole and your (estimated) 45 hour journey across the continent is complete!
