Celebrating Women’s Leadership at Woods Hole Inn: A Tribute for Women’s Month

At Woods Hole Inn, our mission is simple: To Create Lifelong Memories by exceeding your expectations with exemplary lodging. This mission shines through in the glowing reviews we receive, many of which highlight the exceptional staff who make it all possible. In honor of Women’s Month, we want to take a moment to introduce you to the incredible women behind the scenes who carry out this mission day in and day out. The Woods Hole Inn is proud to be a women-led business, and we are thrilled to share the stories of our year-round team who make this place truly special.

Beth Colt, Owner
Boston, Massachusetts
Owner for 17 years

Beth’s journey to owning Woods Hole Inn started with her love of Victorian buildings and a deep appreciation for all that Woods Hole has to offer — the stunning beaches, vibrant science community, delicious restaurants, fishing culture, and the nearby islands. She knew that travelers would fall in love with the area just as she had.

Finding leadership opportunities for women to shine is a personal passion,” Beth says. “We’re so grateful to have a team that embodies dedication and passion. As Angelica Schuyler from Hamilton says: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal…and when I meet Thomas Jefferson, I’m going to compel him to include women in the sequel.’”

Amanda Benoit, General Manager
Fairfax, VT
14 seasons at the Inn

Amanda made a life-changing decision when she left her small-town roots for the charm of Woods Hole. Seeking a change of pace and scenery, she found that working at Woods Hole Inn aligned with her passion for meeting new people. Over the years, she has cherished the positive experiences shared by guests and the vibrant energy that comes from working in hospitality.

Amanda shares, “At first, I didn’t realize how important it would be to work for a women-led company. But now, I see how empowering it is. The Woods Hole Inn and its associated businesses are all run by women, and it’s inspiring to be part of a community where we all share similar values and work ethic.

Ladonna Morrison, Lodging Manager
Eastern Jamaica
9 seasons at the Inn

Ladonna’s decision to join Woods Hole Inn was fueled by a desire to practice marketing while interacting with people daily — and she has found her perfect fit. She believes strongly in the power of working for a women-led company, especially after experiencing the rarity of such an environment in her home country. “Being heard, trusted, and respected is a rare gift, and it’s one I feel fortunate to experience here” she says.

Her favorite places on Cape Cod? The beautiful Knob, offers stunning views of Buzzards Bay at sunset, and the serene Sandwich boardwalk where the fields of green marsh meet the ocean’s edge.

Charlene Martin-Sargent, Housekeeping Supervisor
New Bedford, MA
Since August 2009

Charlene has been with Woods Hole Inn since its early years, having witnessed its growth firsthand. She enjoys using her passion for cooking, decorating, and creating recipes to enhance the Inn’s guest experience.

For me, working for a women-led business is empowering. It’s a great example for my daughters and granddaughters, showing them the strength of women supporting one another in a community. It strengthens our connection to Cape Cod,” she says.

Her favorite place on the Cape is the peaceful Washburn Island, a perfect retreat for reflection and tranquility.

Tina-Marie Crocker, Breakfast Cook
Born in Massachusetts
5th season at the Inn

Tina-Marie, who spent 20 years working on private yachts, now enjoys bringing her passion for service to the Inn. “Serving others has always been a passion of mine,” she explains. “This job perfectly mirrors the duties I had on yachts but with a welcoming, homey feel.

Though this is her first experience working in a women-led company, Tina-Marie values the supportive environment and the amazing coworkers she has found at Woods Hole Inn.

Anna Clark-Blouin, Front Desk Supervisor

It’s not just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow and support each other, making every guest feel at home.”

Angie Estrella, Head Housekeeper
Vineyard Haven, MA
5th season at the Inn

Angie was drawn to the family-owned nature of the Inn, which provides a relaxed and enjoyable work atmosphere. Though she hadn’t initially considered the fact that Woods Hole Inn is led by women, she’s since come to appreciate the strength and unity that comes with it. “It’s empowering to see how far women have come, and it’s amazing to be part of that progress,” she reflects.

Patti Keating, Front Desk
Falmouth/Woods Hole, MA
8th season at the Inn

Patti has a deep appreciation for the warm, inviting atmosphere created at Woods Hole Inn, where she enjoys welcoming guests from all over the world. She believes this hospitality starts at the top, with the female leadership setting the tone for the entire team. “It’s not just about the staff; it’s about the energy we provide for our guests — and I think that’s what makes Woods Hole Inn so special” she shares.

Patti’s favorite off-season activity? A peaceful drive down Cape, followed by a walk on Race Point beach in Provincetown to see the whales.
