Film Screening: “The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner”
October 6, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
In 1994, a year after serving two terms as one of the most popular governors in modern Washington State history, Booth Gardner was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In 2008, as his health continued to deteriorate, he returned to the political spotlight as the driving force behind a ballot initiative that would legalize one’s choice to die.
With the help of “Yes-on-1000” Campaign strategists, Gardner mounts a statewide campaign to generate the 225,000 signatures necessary to get the initiative on the November ballot, ultimately obtaining 320,000.
The film chronicles his controversial crusade, looking at both sides of this hotly debated issue.
