Staff Spotlight – Meet Stevens Doherty

October 7, 2017 by Beth Colt

staff at Woods Hole Inn

Stevens Doherty has been our jack of all trades here at the Woods Hole Inn for the past several years.  Stevens is a breakfast cook, housekeeper and valet during the summer, so one day he might park your car, the next he might serve you breakfast but always with a big ol’ “Good Morning” smile.  “My first role here is to go above and beyond for our guests,” which he does on a constant basis!

What is the best part of the job? Interacting with people is the best part of the job. I love seeing that look on their face when you go above and beyond.

What is your favorite breakfast item at Woods Hole Inn? It has got to be the quiches, specifically the bacon.

What is your biggest accomplishment? My son.

What is your favorite place on Cape Cod or the islands? Lower Cape beaches, like Eastham and Wellfleet with my son, or any golf course.

Fun Fact! Steve used to be a firefighter in New Hampshire.

What is the best place you have traveled so far and why? Probably Paris. It is just beautiful – the museums, the artwork, the people.

staff at five star bed and breakfast Cape Cod

Susan Hunt is a breakfast chef and part of our team of amazing housekeepers at Woods Hole Inn. She has worked here for three years and lives nearby in Falmouth with her family and two dogs.

What is the best part of the job? I get to meet people from all over the world and I love baking.

What is your favorite breakfast item at the Inn? The quiche – the sausage and linguica quiche is my favorite.

What is your favorite place near Woods Hole Inn on Cape Cod? Chappy (Chappaquoit) Beach. I love that beach. I also love walking along Davisville Road to the reservation trail with my headphones and my dogs.

What is your biggest accomplishment?  My biggest accomplishment would be taking care of my parents.

Fun fact about her: I can get really, really silly! I hold back a bit here, but I love to laugh. My family has a great sense of humor.

What is the best place you have traveled so far and why? I really enjoyed Bermuda and St. Thomas. They have beautiful beaches and they are great to get away from the cold!

Staff Spotlight – Meet Jonathan Winkler

Staff members at the best Bed and Breakfast Cape Cod

Jonathan Winkler, Valet & Front Desk

Jonathan has been working at the Woods Hole Inn for the past four years.  Last year, he moved into the staff quarters so now he enjoys views of the water and fresh ocean breezes everyday!

What is the best part of the job? Meeting new people everyday is the best part of my job. I love talking to guests and learning where they are from, what they like to do, how I can help them have fun while they are here on Cape Cod. Making the best of your Cape Cod vacation is my number one goal while you are here at the Woods Hole Inn.

What is your favorite breakfast item at Woods Hole Inn? The home made vegetable quiche, it is delicious.

What is your favorite place on Cape Cod or the islands?  I love Edgartown on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. It is just the most beautiful place to walk around. I enjoy the historical houses, cool shops and great restaurants.  Living here at the Woods Hole Inn, a trip to Edgartown makes for an excellent day off because I just walk across the street to the ferry.

What is your biggest accomplishment? My biggest accomplishment is finding a job I love. Not to mention it is located in a beautiful place where I truly love to live.

Fun Fact! My favorite color is pink.  You’ll catch me in my pink board shorts in summer.

What is the best place you have traveled so far and why? I am a huge fan of the Bahamas because I love spending time out on a boat. The aqua blue water is the most beautiful I have ever seen.  Sometimes in high summer season here on Cape Cod, we get a hint of those Caribe blue waters here too.  I love that!

Amanda Benoit, Manager of the Woods Hole Inn
Amanda has been working at the inn for over six years, managing it for the last three.

What is the best part of the job? Our guests are my favorite part of this job. Meeting such interesting, warm, happy people from all over the word makes it not only a fun place to work but creates a great positive atmosphere.

What is your favorite breakfast item at Woods Hole Inn? I’m a dessert person, so the maple bars are my favorite. In a close second, the home made quiche because it is some of the best I have ever had.

What is your favorite place on Cape Cod or the islands?  I love the beach. I like taking short boat trips to the surrounding island beaches.  We are lucky to have a boat to access to these sandy island beaches — so remote that they are usually empty which is amazing.

What is your biggest accomplishment? Mothering two healthy, beautiful children.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.  I love to make my own jewelry.

What is the best place you have traveled so far?  St. John in the Caribbean. Such a beautiful island.  In summer, Woods Hole’s Gulf Stream waters remind me of my favorite place.

Staff Spotlight — Meet Kaylee Costa

July 11, 2016 by Beth Colt

FullSizeRenderKaylee Costa, Front Desk & Red Chair Travels Coordinator
Kaylee Costa has been working at the Woods Hole Inn for several years now, and you may know her as the superstar who saved another employee’s life last year.  (And if not, read all about that right here.)

What is the best part of the job? The people!  I love meeting people from all over the world and hearing about their faraway lives. My goal is to visit everywhere at least once. I am currently taking notes for my bucket list.

What is your favorite breakfast item at Woods Hole Inn? The tomato soup cake because it is vegan and really good!

What is your favorite place on Cape Cod or the islands?  I love driving Route 6A from Barnstable to the Sagamore Bridge.  I recommend it to guests who want to explore towards the outer Cape.  It’s one of America’s oldest roads (sometimes called the Old King’s Highway)  with antique houses lining this winding original cow path.  I have picked out many of my future homes along that drive.  It really gives you an authentic sense of the history of Cape Cod.

What is your biggest accomplishment? In my off time, I enjoy competitive racing. I recently did a “Spartan Sprint,” an extremely hard challenge but I finished it.  I was able to complete a lot more obstacles than I thought possible. It was a goal of mine for 2016.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.  I love to read. I have finished 36 books since January 2016.

What is the best place you have traveled so far?  I love Prague. I visited for a month once with a college group.  We went to five countries and I knew the least about Prague before I got there.  Just showing up with zero expectations was the best part. I loved everything about it!  Prague is a beautiful old city with this huge stone bridge filled with artists,  not to mention — the food was amazing. Rome is a close second.  I have been there twice and really love it too.
