Falmouth Mass on Cape Cod knows how to celebrate the holidays with their annual “Holidays by the Sea” weekend. In early December (Dec 1 – 3, 2017), the whole town rolls out the red carpet with sparkling lights, a marine visit from Santa Claus, local craft sales with everything you need for your Christmas list, caroling at sunset at famous Nobska Lighthouse and of course the Holiday Parade — the largest gathering of it’s sort in southeastern Mass.
Here is a brief run down of some of the highlights of this world class holiday kick off celebration:
Carol Sing at Nobska Light – Sunset Friday Dec 1 – Join professional carolers as the sun sets over Vineyard Sound and the islands in this unique and solemn gathering.
Jingle Jog and Elf Run – 9.30 am Saturday Dec 2 – Hundreds of festive runners participate in this 5k jaunt through the frosty streets of Falmouth. The Elf Run is for kids under 12, which is super adorable to see the young runners set off before their parents.
Renaissance Fair in Woods Hole 10-3 Saturday Dec 2 – with live music and dozens of local craftspeople, the Woods Hole Community Hall is a gathering place to shop, enjoy home made sweets, plus live music from local “Solstice Singers” and more. This is the spot to find that hand made gift for your holiday gift-giving list!
Main Street Stroll – All weekend long, the Falmouth Main Street shops welcome you with gorgeous displays as well as end of season specials. Don’t miss this unique small business community as they show you the best of the best, and help you get into the holiday spirit with their creativity.
Santa Claus arrives by Boat – Noon on Saturday Dec 2 at Marine Park Falmouth Harbor. You need to see this to believe it, all the way from the North Pole comes Santa Claus rolling into Falmouth Harbor by boat. Time for kids to meet Santa plus the best photo ops of the season.
Falmouth Holiday Parade – Noon on Sunday Dec 3. More than 50,o00 people crowd the streets of Falmouth to enjoy this one of a kind small town parade that kicks off the Christmas season. Led by the Hallamore Clydesdale team, these well trained animals will take your breath away while the marching bands, baton tossers and inspired floats from local businesses will fill your heart with the warmth of holiday feelings. There is a reason this is the best attended holiday event in Southeastern Mass.
