Hullabaloo and the Nimrod, Too!
January 28 @ 6:00 pm
Commemorating the Bombardment of Falmouth, January 28, 1814
A Bicentennial Blast hosted by the Falmouth Museums on the Green. This bicentennial marks the dark day in January 1814 when the HMS Nimrod attempted to destroy the town. Despite the shelling, the inhabitants withstood the marauding efforts of the British to force Falmouth residents to either pay ransom or surrender their own brass cannons. Entertainment will include fifes and drums, as well as the “Rum Soaked Crooks”, a men’s singing quartet. There will likely be other surprises as well! This gala bash will begin a year of several events saluting the bicentennial. The cost for the evening’s events will be $ 60 per person, with the proceeds raised going to the preservation of 19-century artifacts in the Museums’ collections.
